Chicken Coop Kits

I've been reading a lot about Chicken coop plans and realized that there are already chicken coop kits available online. This can be found in a website called DIY Chicken Coop. It also offers a whole range of information about chickens, chicken coops, chicken coop plans and more. People in the poultry or chicken business would love this website. They can do research here. And since farming can also be done while you have a poultry, they also have books about general farming, vegetable farming, land animal farming, fresh & salt water farming, and organic farming.

I have also been reading a lot of stuff about organic farming since people are gearing towards eating organic. If you have a huge lot where you housed your poultry, it is a good idea to venture out in organic farming. If it's too overwhelming for you then why not try it out for your home use only. Meaning you plant then you consume the organic vegetables that you planted. In this way you won't have to buy your food from the supermarket anymore. And also you are sure that it is really organic. Think about it. You might want to try it.

Introduction to Lima, Peru

For this week, I'd like to focus more about the capital of Peru which is Lima. Here are more details grabbed from iGuide Interactive Travel Guide.

Lima is the capital of Peru and its largest city. Founded in 1535 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, the modern city is a curious mix of the modern mega city with some 'islands of modernity', large but orderly slum areas and colonial architecture in the city center. Lima was the seat of the Spanish rule during 300 years, and as such it has wonderful churches, cloisters and monasteries that are worth a visit.

Lima is also the best place to try the wonderful Peruvian cuisine, which has a huge variety of ingredients from coast, mountain and Amazon regions. The cold sea current in front of Peru's large coast makes the sea very rich in fish and seafood, which have a great taste due to the special plankton they eat. Fish and seafood restaurants are therefore worth the time, and not expensive.

Lima has also a great subtropical climate, it is never too warm or too cold. People in Lima do not use raincoats or umbrellas, since rain is rare. In fact, Lima is built upon a valley surrounded by an extremely arid desert.

Watch out for more about this exciting city soon!

San Miguel de Allende La Gruta

One place that is nice to be part of your itinerary is the San Miguel de Allende La Gruta. La Gruta is the only hotspring directly on the San Miguel-Dolores road. Indoor and outdoor pools, grassy verges with recliners and a small cafe/restaurant on site. Good news, admission is free of charge.

They have a series of outdoor pools that is fed by thermal hot springs. They also have a well-lighted cave where you can swim into that features a spring-fed waterfall that is turned on at regular intervals. It's good to do swim and stay for a long soak in La Gruta. This will leave you relaxed and ready for anything; But just choose the pool you want according to the water temperature you prefer. It is a good thing to rent a locker and eat at the small outdoor restaurant serves typical Mexican dishes (try the delicious, popular, and fresh guacamole).

La Gruta is 15 minutes from town via taxi; ask the front desk to call one when you are ready to return to San Miguel de Allende. They are open daily from morning until evening. This is definitely a great place to check out!

3 Days in Cancun

I have found a very nice itinerary in Cancun.

Day 1 - Go scuba diving or snorkeling. For dinner, consider a Captain Hook Dinner Cruise, or a lobster dinner cruise.

Day 2 - Take a day trip to Tulum, a beautiful archaeological site on the coast south of Cancun and Xel-Ha, a water theme park.

Day 3 - Take it easy on the beach. Refine your sandcastle building skills.

I know this itinerary sounds very simple but if you still have lots of energy, you can book more activities. Since Cancun is known for its stunning beaches, luxury Cancun hotels and resorts, fine dining, impressive Mayan archaeological sites nearby, and activities for all ages and tastes, you will definitely find more activities apart from the ones I have mentioned.

Did you know that there are actually 3 million tourists who visit Cancun each year? Amazing isn't it? Because they really have the best beaches and resorts that are worth checking out. Check it out yourself. Start with my suggested itinerary. Start from there, add a few more activities that would fit your budget and time and energy. With that, it is going to be a really fun trip for you!

Organic Vegetables

When you are into organic gardening, you will get used to eating organic vegetables. Since more people are gearing towards eating organic vegetables, it is best that these people would start focusing on gardening and maybe do it themselves. I'm pretty sure that it would be fun having to plant your own vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, radish, and more. The only downside here is that the effort that you have to make to have it grown in your backyard. You also have to wait a long time before these are grown and before you can eat these stuff. But I'm sure it is all worth it. To be able to see the "fruits" of your labor. To be able to eat what you have planted considering that vegetables are really expensive nowadays let alone organic. To be able to be sure that these are really organic. And if you did it well, maybe you should plan of planting more and sell it to your friends or relatives. You can start your own business on this one. Who knows it might be big. But if not, I guess having to eat your own vegetables are definitely worth it already.

Museo de Arte in Lima, Peru (Pre-Columbian Art Museum)

The next attraction that is recommended to check out in Lima Peru is the Pre-Columbian Art Museum of Museo de Arte. Here are more details from Wikipedia.

The Museo de Arte Precolombino is an art museum in Cusco, Peru, dedicated to the display of archaeological artifacts and examples of pre-Columbian artworks drawn from all regions of pre-Columbian Peru. The museum is situated on Plaza Nazarenas in Cusco's San Blas district, and has on permanent display exhibitions of some 450 individual representative artifacts that are drawn from the wider collection of its parent museum, the Larco Museum in the Peruvian capital Lima.

The building where the museum is now housed was originally an Inca ceremonial courthouse. In 1580, it was acquired by the conquistador Alonso Díaz and subsequently built over in Colonial style to become the home of an elite member of Cusco society, the Viceroy Hernandez de Cabrera, for whom the mansion is named. It then passed through many hands and had multiple functions, ultimately falling into a ruinous state. After a large-scale restoration, the Museo de Arte Precolombino opened in June of 2003.

Winning the Catapult Design

When I checked the DIY Catapults website, I realized that there were actually winners in doing the DIY catapult plans and catapult blueprints. This happened last 2008 and it is a pretty interesting plan. All steps include, Materials (which pieces are required), Tools (which tools are required), Diagrams (process sketches), and Step-by-Step Instructions (plain-English descriptions with photos). If you want to buy it it's on sale. Now, it is only $4.99 which used to be $9.99. You save $5.00!

If you happen to win at DIY Catapults, as a prize they will be re-selling the plans of the winning designs each year. This is a good way to have fun at the same time be recognized by joining in DIY Catapults contests. But if you are fairly new to this idea would like to get started, try checking out the guide from DIY Catapults that include chapters on:

1. Buying Materials (sources, detailed shopping list, etc.)
2. Cutting and Notching the Wood (cut lists, diagrams, templates, etc.)
3. Creating the Firing Arm (shaping, joining, etc.)
4. Assembling the Catapult Frame (solid base for long, accurate throws)
5. Building the Firing Mechanism (powerful catapult engine)
6. Mounting the Frame and Wheels (final step of assembly)
7. Firing your Catapult!

I bet, this would be very helpful for you!

Plaza de Armas of Lima, Peru

One of the attractions that you should check out is the Plaza de Armas in Lima, Peru.

View of the Plaza Mayor of Lima. Grabbed from Wikipedia.

The Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas of Lima, is the birthplace of the city of Lima, as well as the core of the city. Located in the Historic Centre of Lima, it is surrounded by the Government Palace, Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop's Palace of Lima, the Municipal Palace, and the Palace of the Union.

More overview from Wikipedia.

The Plaza de Armas is surrounded by the Jiron Junin, Jiron de la Union, Jiron Huallaga, and the Jiron Carabaja avenues.

In 1523, King Charles I of Spain mandated the Procedures for the creation of cities in the New World. These procedures indicated that after outlining a city's plan, growth should follow a grid centered on the square shape of the plaza.

On the day of the foundation of the city, January 18, 1535, the conquistador[1] Francisco Pizarro, conforming to established procedure, designated a location to build the plaza. Later, Pizarro and Nicolas de Rivera, the city's first mayor, toured the city's location and split parcels. Pizarro, taking advantage of his title of founder and governor, took a large parcel of land between the north side of the plaza and the Rimac river. The lot to the south of the plaza was designated to be a church, the western lot was to be the site of a city council, and the rest of the lots were divided among the rest of the conquistadors.
